Ms. Julie Kesti

Julie Kesti (Ms. Julie) is excited to begin her second year at SPASH, moving up to high school with the 8th graders. Julie is from snowy Minneapolis, MN. She began her international teaching as a substitute teacher at Shanghai American School and was inspired to complete an M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction under the guidance of Dr. Maisha Winn at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Education. She also earned an undergraduate degree (summa cuma laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from the University of Minnesota. Ms. Julie has taught in a variety of school settings, from a Special Education support classroom to a small private democratic school to a large city district to a public Montessori school, and now here at St. Paul. Ms. Julie moved to Hanoi with her husband, Sean, and their awesome terrier, Rocket. She loves travel, reading, making art, writing letters, going to the movies and exploring the world on foot. Ms. Julie’s goal is to support students as lifelong learners who know that reading and writing are useful tools to explore and enjoy the world, and who can advocate for themselves and their communities. Our classroom will be fun, meaningful, organized, and creative.
