How We Teach

Our learning program is a multi-layered approach to meeting the individual needs of our students. It starts with our adoption of the United States Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These learning goals establish what students should be able to do at the end of each grade level so that students leave Grade 12 with the knowledge and skills they need to be successful. We ensure students are able to meet these standards through instruction, assessment and a focus on individual student progress.

 

As educators, we must also prepare our students to successfully function in society. We meet this need by identifying and meeting the social and emotional needs of our children. Our instruction focuses on teaching our students how to work together, be a part of the community, resolve conflicts, rely on each other, and improve our environment. The result is confident, dependable, and independent learners that are ready to make our world a better place to live.

 

Lastly, our instruction is rigorous. We have high expectations for our students and we motivate them to excel at all tasks. We believe this will make our students stronger and better prepared for the world. This does not mean that we are strict, but rather confident that our students succeed when they are challenged and encouraged.
